insider tips

1. Watch out for hidden costs
Many yacht charters add surprise fees like anchoring, provisions, and fuel. At Retreat & Sailing, we offer 100% transparent pricing, fair quotes, and even all-inclusive packages—so you can sail completely stress-free.

2. Book early, especially for summer
The best catamarans get reserved 6+ months in advance—secure yours early for better rates and more choices.

3. Start from Split or Dubrovnik
They’re the perfect gateways to iconic islands like Hvar, Vis, and Brač, with plenty of sailing routes and provisioning.

4. Go crewed for a stress-free trip
A skipper (and hostess, if you like) takes care of everything—navigation, mooring, local tips—so you can just enjoy.

5. Anchor in hidden bays overnight
Ask your skipper to show you secluded spots away from the crowds—perfect for stargazing and quiet swims.

6. Pack smart: soft bags, no sprays
Use foldable luggage and cream sunscreen (not spray) to keep things practical and boat-friendly.

Average High and Low Temperature

Croatia enjoys a Mediterranean climate on the coast, with warm, sunny weather from May to September. In coastal cities like Split and Dubrovnik, average high temperatures range from 70°F (21°C) in May to 89°F (32°C) in July and August—ideal for swimming, sailing, and island hopping. Evenings stay mild, especially in summer, making life on a catamaran comfortable day and night. Inland cities like Zagreb are cooler, especially outside the summer months. For the best sailing experience, stick to the coast during late spring to early fall.

Best time to visit

The ideal time to charter a catamaran in Croatia is between May and September, when the weather is warm, the sea is calm, and the islands are full of life. July and August are the peak months, offering the liveliest atmosphere but also the highest demand and prices. For a more relaxed experience with fewer crowds and better rates, May, June, and September are perfect—offering the same stunning landscapes, charming coastal towns, and clear waters, but with more space to enjoy them.
